Written originally in 2002, this track is a *rebuilt* version put into a more modern setting. It's about the mutually common feeling that leaving your home town is initially hard, as it tries to keep you there in many ways, but once you do break free, you realise that you carry your home with you, wherever you go.
lyrics
Broken Bridge
Walking in and out of town,
I see another face I think I know,
Talk a while until we're down,
Turn around I think I better go.
Now you think you've got it all,
But your 'petit' crimes won't get you very far.
A no-hope job at the Golden Ball,
Just so you can fix up your new car.
I'm looking back across this broken bridge to where I've come from,
And all I see is that there is a place that I have known,
I feel like I've been kept inside these walls, I know it's too long,
And when I look across this bridge, I know that this is my home.
I can make it through the castle walls,
They stretch beyond how far the eye can see.
I lost my way, but as long as duty calls,
I'll make the grade and know that I am free.
I'm looking back across this broken bridge to where I've come from,
And all I see is that there is a place that I have known,
I feel like I've been kept inside these walls, I know it's too long,
And when I look across this bridge, I know that this is my home.
