about

This is a happy-go-lucky song that I wrote one silly summer day. I simply wanted to write a song that used the word "kerfuffle" as it is one of my favourite words. The resulting 5/4 jazz song with bass line and the works is a far cry from the silly little ditty it began life as. This song is about letting your hair down and forgetting your troubles by observing everyday trivialities.

lyrics

Diddly Dudi Yabadu Dadi Deydey

As I wade, through the water,
I can’t tell what’s rapidly approaching,
Complicating the matter,
I can see the tributary breaching,

But I see, all the things I wanna see,
And I hear, all the things I wanna hear,
And I’ll be, all the things I wanna be,
When I feel, something I just wanna sing…

Diddly dudi yabadu dadi deydey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi dey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi deydey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi dey...

As I watch, the kerfuffle,
I don’t tell a single soul about it,
Take a five, knuckle-shuffle,
I don’t see the harm in sticking with it,

But I see, all the things I wanna see,
And I hear, all the things I wanna hear,
And I’ll be, all the things I wanna be,
When I feel, something I just wanna sing…

Diddly dudi yabadu dadi deydey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi dey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi deydey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi dey...

As I walk, up the river,
I won’t see you stuck, without a paddle,
Set your bow to the quiver,
I won’t see you fight a losing battle,

But I see, all the things I wanna see,
And I hear, all the things I wanna hear,
And I’ll be, all the things I wanna be,
When I feel, something I just wanna sing…

Diddly dudi yabadu dadi deydey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi dey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi deydey,
Diddly dudi yabadu dadi dey...
