lyrics
Shoes
Took a train down to Georgia just to see what was on my mind,
Got a harp in ma pocket so that I can sit and unwind,
Jack’s drinkin’ with me with a coke tight in his hand,
Have a smoke with a Cuban and I’m in a different land.
And I’m okay, take off ma shoes,
Just another case of the good time blues.
So I find myself a bar on the eastern side of town,
With a band tunin’ up and getting’ ready just to get down,
And Jack’s made it here with his friends all standin’ in line,
So my feet start tappin’ as ma neck reaches up to the sky.
A glance to the back and there’s a girl as cute as can be,
And for some stupid reason she’s stood lookin’ straight back at me.
So I take off my hat, give a smile and offer a drink,
So she sits down with jack and knocks him back before I can blink.
The band’s packed up and even Jack has gone home alone,
And this girls askin’ please could I trouble you for a lift home,
So we stroll in the dark until we hit a familiar sign,
And it’s in for a coffee in the bedroom so we can unwind.
